Hi There!

Welcome to my blog.

I love cities - glam - airlines  -  and photography.  All of the images on this site were taken by me on my travels around the planet.

I can't wait to have you come on some of my adventures!

Swiss Business Class Lounge Review New York JFK - (JFK)

Swiss Business Class Lounge Review New York JFK - (JFK)

Killer views, stylish décor, and plenty of food are all features of the Swiss (airlines) Business Class Lounge at JFK airport in NYC.

If you’re bound for Zurich or Geneva (or any onward destination on Swiss) it’s the perfect escape prior to your flight.  A chance to relax, send a couple of emails, and enjoy a glass of bubbly!

Here’s a review of my recent visit:

Ambiance

Swiss has a definite brand look for their lounges and this facility carries through on their design aesthetic. It feels like something out of Wall*Paper magazine: modern, bright and hip.

I especially like the masonry feature-walls that Swiss has in their premium venues.  It adds a fresh (outdoorsy) element to the whole scheme.

Hands-down, the best feature of their JFK lounge is the super-expansive, floor to ceiling windows that expose the tarmac below.  I could’ve sat there all day – soaking in the spectacular views of aircraft from all over the globe!

The Swiss JFK lounge has a decent selection of beverages – although I wouldn’t say its over the top!

I went straight for the bubbly – which was a Cava from Spain: Freixenet.  Most people would argue that it’s not premium – but I have a soft spot for this winery. (Friexenet was my introduction to the world of sparkling glam back in college! )

Swiss also had a selection of several white and red wines on my visit – along with a number of basic spirits.  Everything to make a martini was on offer - so all in all, a decent bar!

Cuisine

I was impressed with the amount of food Swiss had on hand at JFK.

A chilled buffet featured a number of treats including a scrumptious penne, olive, pesto – pasta salad!  And - there was plenty of other fresh options. But by far, my favorite items on the salad bar were Switzerland’s national treasures – cheeses!!

Swiss also has a hot buffet at JFK (which is becoming a rare site in most business class lounges).  The spread included roast chicken, pork, rice, and grilled vegetables.  Definitely an option if you decide to dine before your flight and then sleep onboard.

Showers

I actually arrived at the airport well in advance of my flight, so I decided to indulge in a calming shower.

Obviously most people don’t come into this lounge from overnight flights – so I was surprised they even had bathing facilities.  I’m not sure if they had one or two showers at the back. Mine was quite large, bright and cheery - but nothing special from a design point of view.

What I loved the most though was their Rituals branded shampoos, gels, and lotions.  I emerged smelling like I’d spent a day at the spa!

My Verdict

While this isn’t the biggest airport club in the world – it has plenty to offer and it packs a punch!  Great snacks, meals, beverages and ambiance – topped off with spectacular airport views.   Definitely a little gem of a lounge!
