Air New Zealand Lounge Review – Sydney (SYD)
Talk about a knock-out! The Air New Zealand Business Class Lounge in Sydney is a mega-star. Slick design, great food, a coffee bar – and super friendly staff.
Here’s a review of my recent visit to this lounge:
The place feels more like a hip hotel lobby vs an airline club. Everything has a mod, clean, crisp feel to it. I especially loved the mood lighting used throughout – with an emphasis on pink hues to match the accent colors in the stylish furniture.
The views from the lounge were spectacular as well. The designers used extra big windows which opens up the whole facility – and gives plane spotters hours of fun!
The lounge has plenty of seating in a variety of configurations that addresses every imaginal travel need: you can move from the bar to work - effortlessly!
I was there for breakfast – and the dining options were fantastic.
Beyond the standard yogurts, cold cuts, eggs, and bacon/sausage found in most lounges – Air New Zealand had a number of unique treats on hand – like made-to-order French Toast! Yes you read that right – they have a chef on hand to make sure you have hot, fresh egg-dipped breads! I've never seen that before - not even in France....
Other unique treats included a variety of specialty smoothies (Kale and Pear!!) and specially prepared yogurts with a variety of fruits and toppings (I loved the chia seed infused one!)
One of the first things I noticed when I entered the lounge – was its showstopper bar. It’s enormous!
Fully stocked and ready for a hard core cocktail crowd – this bar was impressive for a business class lounge. New Zealand wines, bubbly, and spirits were all on hand.
While I was there though (at 7AM) the popular beverage was understandably coffee – and Air New Zealand had a team of baristas on hand to ensure they met the high demand. They have a special app loaded on an iPad. You select your choice of cup, beverage, and intensity all on this app. Again – something else unique that Air New Zealand has rolled out.
Another innovation: when I wanted to have a shower, I was able to pop into the shower facility and select my own unit (that’s not normal – you usually have to sign up for a room in most lounges).
The facilities were gorgeous and spacious. Each unit came with a huge vanity and walk in shower. The water flowed through either a ‘rain’ or a standard nozzle.
I have to call out the New Zealand Antipode toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, and soap). This is an organic beauty brand from the South Pacific. I especially loved their Nirvana Hand & Body Wash that was scented with hibiscus flowers! It’s always a treat to discover some new, luxurious, beauty brands!
The Air New Zealand Lounge in Sydney is a true gem – especially if you like trendy clubs! I loved the whole ambiance and mood. The kiwi’s always execute everything in a cool, natural way -– it’s really impressive!
