Hi There!

Welcome to my blog.

I love cities - glam - airlines  -  and photography.  All of the images on this site were taken by me on my travels around the planet.

I can't wait to have you come on some of my adventures!

Lufthansa Welcome Lounge Review Frankfurt – FRA

Lufthansa Welcome Lounge Review Frankfurt – FRA

If you are coming off of a long transatlantic or intercontinental flight – Lufthansa's Welcome Lounge in Frankfurt is a paradise.  A place to relax, recharge, and refresh!  Showers, a full breakfast spread, and fresh coffee ensure that you’re ready for the business day or your next long-haul flight!

Here’s a review of my recent visit:

Admission and Location

The Welcome Lounge is a bit more exclusive than other Lufthansa facilities at Frankfurt: open only to ticketed Business or First-Class passengers arriving on long-haul flights.  Frequent flyers with status and short-haul travelers can’t get in!

The lounge is located outside of immigration in Terminal One - specifically in Area B, Level One.   It only makes sense to visit if you're going into the city for business – or if you have an extra-long layover.

Showers

The excellent shower facilities are the main reason people flock to this lounge.  26 Showers in total - enough to accommodate an entire soccer team!

The check-in area for the showers is downstairs.  If you need anything extra like a toothbrush or razor, LH has supplies on hand.

The shower rooms are actually quite large and they’re spotless!   In my unit – the shower was at the back.  In the front there was a bench, toilet, and vanity.  There’s a lot of tile and wood paneling.  It all looks modern (but not necessarily hip).

I loved the fact they had oodles of L’Occitane products: body-cream, hand-soap, shower gel, and shampoo!  A fan of luxury toiletries complete dream!  The bottles were locked down to make sure no-one ran off with these treasures!

The welcome lounge is open from 5AM to 1PM (with the last entrance at 12:30 PM).

Consequently, the focus food-wise is breakfast treats – and they have plenty of them!  Fresh fruits & berries; muesli; baked breads; cold cuts; smoked salmon; and a buffet of hot breakfast items including eggs, sausages and beans.  Enough food to keep you going for the day!  Tasty, hot, and well prepared!

Obviously, most people want coffee at this time of the day – and Lufthansa delivers.  Two powerful WMF machines churn out every imaginable coffee combination from americanos to lattes.  I loved what it made for me: a rich double espresso

There’s over 10 different teas to choose from, fresh juices and even smoothies!

If you need a little bit more power to get your day started, there’s a number of options including champagne, wines and beer(!).  I have to admit I had a sample of the champers – and it was excellent.

There’s a lot of seating in this lounge – something for every need. There’s café tables, work benches, and plush arm chairs (careful not to fall asleep in those!). On my visit the lounge wasn’t busy – so I had my pick of places to sit.

I love it when an airline has a Welcome Lounge!  They’re brilliant!  You emerge a whole new person – ready to face the day after flying all night.  I wish more airlines had them!   Lufthansa’s facility is marvelous.  Tons of room, plenty of showers (so no lineups), and a feast when it comes to the food!
