Avianca Sala VIP Business Class Lounge Review - Mexico City – MEX
Avianca has a mini-lounge in Mexico City that’s cute and has character. More importantly, it’s the only lounge conveniently located in the wing of the airport with gates 29-36. Most of the other ones are clustered a long walk away from those departure gates.
Here's a review from my recent visit:
Entrance is located next to Gate 31
Don’t expect palatial surroundings. The footprint for this lounge is micro – but Avianca does an excellent job optimizing the space.
I loved the bright red, mod, seating – which was reflective of their brand. The color punched a degree of positive energy into the lounge.
Some of the seats are low to the ground and are better suited for Barbie – but I had no difficulty with the café style ones.
I was there at breakfast and they had a selection of pastries, cereals, and yogurts. They even had scrambled eggs – and the local favorite Chilaquiles (fried tortillas in a green salsa sauce). I was actually surprised the had so much given the size of the lounge.
Without hesitation – I made a B-line for the coffee. After all, Avainca is flag carrier of Columbia, a coffee bean powerhouse. It was delicious and prepared to perfection. They have self-serve machines, but the lounge attendants insist on preparing these beauties.
If you need something a bit stronger in the morning (and by the looks of it many people did when I was there) – Avianca has a selection of spirits, beers and wines. All of the basics were on hand.
The Avianca Lounge in Mexico City is small – but it won me over.
I wouldn’t spend hours there – but the location is fab if you are leaving from the 29+ numbered gates. And - I loved the bright read accent seating in this outpost lounge! It was a cheery escape before my flight.
