Star Alliance Lounge - Paris Charles de Gaulle Review – (CDG)
Paris is the capital of luxury and glamour – hands down! This might be the reason why Star Alliance picked this city for one of its first flagship lounges.
Shared by all of the Star Alliance carriers at Terminal One - Charles de Gaulle Airport, the club is a lavish escape. This mod facility offers gourmet snacks and wines – the perfect way to celebrate your departure from Paris!
Here’s a mini review of my recent visit:
I think this lounge maintains it’s exclusive feel partially because it is not the easiest venue to find.
Hidden on the 11th floor –you need to take an elevator from the duty free area to get to it. The signage is not the best – but if you persist the effort is worth it!
The Star Alliance Lounge is compact– but the designers did an amazing job of dividing the space with lighting, pathways, and room-partitions. The seating is modern and slick, with an overall tranquil feel.
The highlight for this lounge is the outdoor patio!
Yes – you can sip French wines el-fresco at the airport. There’s a wooded deck with lighted tables. The smokers tend to take over – but it’s still a great locale to relax with your cocktail.
This Star Alliance Lounge always has tasty food – and a lot of it!
My banquet started with samples from the platters of gravlax and French cheeses – and that was for breakfast! There was a full range of traditional morning fare including waffles and omelets (no middle-of-the road scrambled eggs in this lounge – it’s in France after all!).
I’ve frequented the lounge in the afternoon on other visits – and they always have great spreads. Save a little room to savor a final taste of Paris!
This lounge, rightly, had a wide variety of French wines on offer. In fact there was a whole wall of them!
For those of you into spirits, they have all of the basics covered – with a few extras including Créme de Cassis if you’re interested in conjuring up a Kier Royal. And for caffeine lovers, the lounge features premium Lilly Coffee.
There's a set of showers to freshen up before your flight. They never seem to be in use – so it’s generally quite easy to secure one (at the front desk exchange your boarding pass for the key).
The showers are huge – with more than enough room to spread out in. They feature floor to ceiling tiling – and are a great place to reset prior to your onward journey.
Gourmet Treats – French Wines – and an Outdoor Patio. It’s easy to mistake this airport lounge for a private French club!
I always look forward to my time in the Star Alliance facilities at Charles de Gaulle. With only five clubs in the world – I hope they build some more like this one!
Strut your latest French fashion find – and enjoy this exclusive hideaway!
A Bientot – Paris!
One Last Note: Distance Warning
One thing you need to watch for is the distance from the lounge to your flight. It can take some time to get to gates in Terminal One – and you won’t pass through security until you get there. Make sure you give yourself extra time!
