Hi There!

Welcome to my blog.

I love cities - glam - airlines  -  and photography.  All of the images on this site were taken by me on my travels around the planet.

I can't wait to have you come on some of my adventures!

Air Canada Maple Lounge Review - London Heathrow (LHR)

Air Canada Maple Lounge Review - London Heathrow (LHR)

Air Canada’s Business Class Lounge at London Heathrow differs from any other Maple Leaf Lounge in their system.  It almost feels like a night-club in certain sections.  One part Studio 54 – another part international hub for glam!

Here’s my review of a recent visit:

Beverages

I almost expected to see a DJ when I entered the bar!  The whole area features low level lighting, punctuated with red walls and mood lighting!

Behind the bar was a slick mixologist in charge of whipping up martinis, pulling drafts, and topping up glasses of champagne. And at a moments notice he turned into a barista serving up double espressos and cappuccinos to travelers in need of a caffeine boost!

The Maple Leaf Lounge had everything I could have ever wanted on the beverage front.

Air Canada always does a fantastic job showcasing cuisine in their international lounges.  The feast at Heathrow included hot and cold buffet treats.  My recommendation: go for the asian noodle dishes every time.

I could have been extra-naughty: There was a full compliment of cookies, smarities, chocolates, gummi bears and even marshmallows (in a lounge?).  I half expected the witch from Hansel and Gretel to pop out at any moment.

Seating

There were several seating areas to choose from.

The main hall fit the mold of most international jet-set lounges with its funky seating and floor to ceiling windows.  In the back of the facility though, there was what I would call a “chill out area” with bar stools and lower lighting.  Again – this resembles a night club than anything else!

Showers

What really sets this lounge apart though – was the grand shower facilities.

I felt like royalty in the rain room that was plastered with (what I think was) black granite from floor to ceiling.   They must have emptied two quarries in Brazil to build this facility!

Lounging in Heathrow is always a blast. All of the airlines try to outdo each other at this airport to attract lucrative business travelers.

Air Canada puts on a great show:  a cool bar, chill out areas, and stunning showers.   You’re going to wish for a longer connection!
