Austrian Airlines Lounge Review - Vienna Terminal D (VIE)
Vienna is Austrian Airlines flagship hub – and this airport has multiple lounges to host their well-heeled business class passengers. As you would expect, the Austrian hospitality is exceptional and the lounges are exclusive retreats!
They recently renovated their lounge at Terminal D – which serves many North American flights. Here is a review of my last visit:
The lounge at Terminal D is compact – but it never seems packed since the number of flights that depart from this part of the airport is low. When I was there it was practically empty!
The lounge has cool, Jetson-like furniture. The minimalism creates a sense of zen and calm - something I totally welcomed after walking through the din of Terminal D.
The cuisine offering in this lounge is what I would call 'streamlined' – but it covers all the bases.
I left on a morning flight – and they featured pastries, cereals and scrambled eggs. However, I only lightly grazed at the buffet ¬ as I knew what was in store. I decided to save space for the FEAST that was about to occur on my flight to North America.
No one is going to go thirsty in this lounge.
Austrian had a wide variety of staples on hand: coffees, teas, juices – and of course spirits. In fact, they had all the ingredients for a Martini if you need one at 8AM!
There were also several wine choices – but if you are looking to tank up on champagne you will have to wait for your flight as Austrian reserves the bubbly for their Senator Lounges. (Terminal D is a Business Lounge.)
This lounge is pint-sized, but it does the trick.
It offers a hip refuge from the bustle of the terminal – and allows one to relax with a cocktail before departure. Overall, it sets the tone for the international glam you are about to encounter on Austrian Airlines fabulous Business Class!
