United Club Lounge Review London Heathrow (LHR)
Most airlines have showstopper lounges at London Heathrow in a bid to attract lucrative transatlantic business class travelers. United is no exception. Their Club Lounge at this airport is stupendous – one of the top three in their network! Don’t miss a chance to visit this facility.
Here is a review of my recent visit.
The Lounge is massive. It simply has to be as London Heathrow is a major hub for the United – They have five flights a day just from Newark! (San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington, Chicago - and now Denver – are all United destinations from this airport as well).
There’s plenty of seating – no matter what mood you are in: Bar – Dining – Work – Lounge. All of the chairs seem to have a modern-mid-century feel to them which I love!
This lounge shines on the beverage front as well. There’s something to satisfy almost every desire and taste. Fine wines, draft beers, mixed cocktails, gourmet coffees, fresh juices, cordials and infused waters.
I especially love the bar area in this lounge. It’s open, inviting and hip – and most of the drinks are complimentary (which doesn’t happen in every United Club!).
What is extra special here (besides the three choices of champagne) are the mixed cocktails. Everything from Margarita’s to custom creations like the “Rebellious Garden” (Gin, Elderflower, Apple Juice, Cucumber, and lime) and the “Terra Del Sole” (Vodka, Archers Schnapps, Campari, Orange and Lemon) - -and MUCH more! You don’t see that in many United Clubs.
There is plenty to eat in United’s London Lounge: morning – noon – and night. Hot dishes, snacks, and nibblies. The stand out item in this lounge for me though is their salad bar with lots of choices and options. It’s so refreshing to have a crisp, healthy greens before a flight!
Palatial – first class facilities in London! The shower suites in this lounge are huge, well-equipped and stylish. Among the best in the system and well worth a visit before a long transatlantic flight. I especially loved the blue tiled rain shower and the Cowshed Toiletries.
Hands down – the United Club at Heathrow is a winner. With plenty of seating, scrumptious food, and rocking cocktails - - this is a fantastic lounge! It’s actually slated for an upgrade to Polaris status – but it’s hard to believe they can make it much better than it is already. Make sure you allocate some extra time at the airport to visit this gem!
