Phoenicia Hotel Review - Beirut
The Phoenicia Hotel is one of the top hotels in Beirut. I stayed at this InterContinental property on my last trip and I loved the place (or should I say palace....). This landmark oozed glam - and felt like a resort in the middle of the city. Here's my review of my stay:
The royal treatment started the minute I left customs at the Beirut International Airport. The hotel has a ground transportation desk immediately outside of the immigration area. For $28, I had a quick and hassle free transfer directly to the hotel.
I was greeted upon arrival at the property by the "Grand Staircase." It looks like something out of Versailles - and I almost expected to see Marie Antoinette at the top. It certainly was an impressive introduction to the hotel.
Check-in was speedy and I was delighted to learn that I was upgraded to a poolside room!
My room was massive (I could have fit a whole family in there)! I had a terrace overlooking the pool - and I was able to see the Mediterranean. The bed was fantastic - and I had no problem sleeping (I was in Beirut so I didn't have much time for that though).
The bathroom was off-the-charts amazing. I almost got lost in it at first. Mirroring the grandeur of the room- it had a separate 'commode," bathtub and walk in shower. What drew my attention immediately though was the L'Occitane bath products. They were showcased on an elevated pedestal and I almost had the urge kneel before them.
The room also had a great workplace right beside the balcony - and the complimentary wifi was speedy.
The Lobby Bar
The Cascade Lounge at The Phoenicia is palatial. I am a huge fan of lobby bars - and I loved this one. During my trip I had to meet with quite a few people - and this was a perfect spot for conversation and business. I especially loved the set of banquetts around the sea-themed fountain in the center of the room.
The pool was a show-stopper - and something that I totally did not expect with a city hotel. It felt like something out of a Mediterranean villa. The bottom of the bool is lined with mosaics, there are massive shrubbery and flower pots hugging the edges, and there are columns everywhere. I only wish I would have had more time to enjoy cocktails al fresco!
There is no end to extra amenities at the Phoenicia. There's a 24 hour gym which overlooks the pool, a business center, multiple dining establishments, and of course a spa. Everything you would expect from an InterContinental Hotel!
The Phoenicia is fantastic - and I would not hesitate to stay there again! It has a lot of charm and character. It's regal ambiance, stellar pool, and great service all make it easy to love! Don't hesitate to make a reservation at this gem.
