Hi There!

Welcome to my blog.

I love cities - glam - airlines  -  and photography.  All of the images on this site were taken by me on my travels around the planet.

I can't wait to have you come on some of my adventures!

Absalon Hotel Copenhagen Review - Hipster Central

Absalon Hotel Copenhagen Review - Hipster Central

I was recently looking for a last minute, hip hotel in the heart of Copenhagen – and the Absalon fit the bill perfectly!

This cool hotspot is located a block from Central Station and Tivoli Gardens, is a great location for sight seeing, and serves fab cocktails.

Here’s my review:

Check-In

The lobby screams 'design hotel' with its mood lighting, hip furniture, sleek cocktail lounge and a check-in that looks more like a DJ-booth than a front desk!

Looking for more coolness? - The lobby even has a 'test-bar' of Karmameju exclusive hand locations that you can  sample while they process your reservation.  Heaven!

I knew I was going to like this place right away:  lux-toiletries upon arrival!

The Room

The rooms are fantastic!

I was surprised by the shear size. It wasn't a typical European chamber:  it had plenty of space to move around.  I should have brought a clubbing friend!

The room definitely had a ‘vibe’ to it as well.  Decorated in rich purples and pinks, it felt like an extension of the lobby bar!  Fashionable furniture - designer side tables - and even mini art installations...I was half expecting to see a bartender at any moment.  "Rusty Nail - please...."

Interestingly, the room had plenty of lighting – I don’t think I’ve ever been in a hotel with so much!   I assume it was to fight the dreary, long nights in the winter!  I was lucky to be there in the summer, so I didn’t make much use of them (only six hours of darkness!).

The Bathroom

Again- the bathroom made the place feel like a nightclub!  The person who selected the colors definitely adored purple.  The walls were a deep eggplant hue that reflected off all of the surfaces.

On top of this, the shower had contemporary wave tiling that you see in a lot of hotspots now.  This may date the place down the line – but for the time being your disco-night-out starts in the bathroom at the Absalon!

The Absalson breakfast had Nordic charm and homeyness!

The buffet had everything on it that one would want to start your day: scrumptious freshly-baked breads, cold-cuts, cheeses, eggs, muesli, yogurts, pancakes, etc.   I thought the cured ham was particularly amazing!

I would definitely stay there again on my next visit to Denmark.

I am a sucker for design hotels – and this one did a fab job.  Cool rooms, a funky lobby, and great atmosphere.  Be prepared: It looks like a rave could breakout at any moment!
