Turkish Airlines CIP Istanbul Lounge Review

Turkish Airlines CIP Istanbul Lounge Review

Turkish Airlines' CIP lounge in Istanbul is a pure nirvana for travellers.  In the world of travel – it’s legendary.  Few lounges come near what it has to offer on the dining, beverage, and diversional fronts!  Each time I go through Istanbul – I allow extra time between flights just to indulge myself.  The lounge spans two floors -   and to put it mildly -  It’s bold, spectacular, and built to impress!

The CIP lounge presents a gastronomic extravaganza and you can't walk out of this place hungry.  There are signature food stations set up throughout the space that offer everything from freshly grilled meats – to traditional Turkish flatbreads – to local pastas.  In between – there’s salad & meze installations, dessert carts, fruit displays and even olive bars.  Leave any ideas about dieting at the door...

Beverages

Turkish Airlines doesn't let anyone go thirsty in their CIP lounge!   Guests can pour a wide range of wines and liquors for themselves at stations located throughout the facility (there aren’t any formal bars).  If you are a tea lover, you're in for a treat.  You can sample traditional Turkish black teas, herbal varieties – and even medicinal ones! There are several coffee bars  – and there are several options of freshly squeezed juices and infusions.

Showers

If you are transiting between flights and looking for a shower – the lounge has several.  When it’s busy it can be a bit of a wait – but they give you a pager to ensure you can explore the rest of the lounge.  While the shower rooms are all marble – they are pretty basic.  Nevertheless, having the opportunity to take a shower mid journey is a total luxury that you should not miss!

Suites

This is an extra special amenity for those of you who are in transit.  There are a number of mini-suites in the lounge that offer a comfortable bed and desk area to relax in private between flights. These are basically mini-hotel rooms -- sans a shower and toilet. They are in high demand – so you are lucky if you nab one - -but they are well worth the try.

Eligibility: You need to be in transit for more than four hours – but less than seven. You also need to be connecting to or from a TK business class flight that is longer than eight hours.

Diversions

What really pushes this lounge over-the-top are some of the diversional activities that they offer to keep you occupied between flights.  They have two grand pianos, video games, a pool table, a golf simulator, and a model car race track – that even has a mini airport beside it!  There are several media walls – and an area to screen movies.  The only thing missing is a roller coaster!

Verdict

This lounge is an 10 out of 10 on all fronts!  Don’t miss an opportunity to spend some time in here while you are on the ground in Istanbul.  You won't want to leave for your next flight!
